New music!

Lvnsm27 introduced me to a new Jewish band called Sakrfys. (Or maybe they're not new, I'd just never heard about them before ;) ). They play secular style alternative (so my very wise sister says ;) ), pretty good music, I think. But the point is their message, which is absolutely beautiful.

Lemme know what you think!

Note: I am not writing anymore about Gaza. I can't. I have this thing inside me...I just can't talk about it anymore, and I'm not even sure how I feel about it anymore...except sad. It's too painful. So I'm gonna blog about other random stuff. But לבי במזרח. But look at the pics Joe Settler put up about the amazing Jews helping other amazing Jews in the Old City.

Agreed about the disengagement.

Shavoa tov.

Thank you for your most educational comments on my blog about sinning. Truthfully, I learned quite a bit.

Have a good week.

Come back to visit.

This group looks awesome.

Be well.

Hi. I listened to Sakrfys's CD. I liked the message also. esp. in the title song Sibling Rivalry. (some lyrics- "...I don't care what kippa u wear/ u r my brother/ love me if u dare/ it's ok whatever nusach u pray/ hashem hears us all in his many ways...")
Also "Beloved Daughter" was nice (sad).
if anyone has the lyrics (to any/all of the songs) I'd apprecitate getting them.

I wonder if "Beloved Daughter" was his daughter or someone he knew. Either way it was nice.

Ok I read a little of your blog and it seems pretty good so far :).
I'm just wondering about that Gates of Jewish Heritage site u linked to. It looks nice and comprehensive and all. but it's Reform? can we (Orthodox) trust everything on the site? Thanx.

I mean I'm not opposed to reading stuff outside Orthodoxy. But it's good to know the bias and viewpoint and all right? You're a history major so I'm sure you know that. (I might consider majoring in history actually.)
Sorry for the separate posts. I'm new to commenting on blogs. I know these comments aren't on topic but this was the only place I could think of where you would read this. Is there a different place I should have put this?

Lvnsm27-Thanks for the link to them!

Barbara-I love your thought-provoking and thoughtful posts and comments-I'll definately be back!! :)

David-Yeah, I also thought Sibling Rivalry was absolutely beautiful. I'm thinking about getting the CD, so if I do, I'll IY"H send you the lyrics.

About the Jewish Heritage site..in all honesty, I don't know. It does, however, include Gemoras on things like Bircas Kohanim, which was one of the first things thrown out by Reform, and the 13 Ikrim, which posits that the entire Torah was given to Moshe. I really just posted it because of the Jewish History part. The rest of it seems to just be quotes from Gemora about Jewish practices. On the other hand, it also comments that the "veracity" of Shmuel 1 is "suspect" because it's written from the perspective of the king, etc. Hmm..I see what you mean.

And yes, I guess this was really the only place to post a question like that. I guess technically you could have emailed it to me, but I'm not sure if my email is actually posted. Some bloggers (like karl) have a kind of chatroom on the side of their screens where you can talk about miscellaneous things, but I dunno how to do that...so this is fine.
